Autimatically issue out individual certificates to delegates

It would be good if the LMS would provide a function to generate and issue certificates as individual PDFs directly to the delegates eMail addresses from the document templates/file store.

It is possible to set up workflows to go as individual certificates to a delegate but it is not possible to send either:

    1. An email to the booker with an individual certificate for each delegate who completed the course
    2. Manually generate individual pdfs from the course date delegate list using the bulk document generate, it would have to be done manually for each delegate. Currently when using the bulk feature it creates multiple certificates in one pdf. One client has over 1,000 delegates who need certificates generating that might only be sent to 1-2 recipients such as a booker or HR manager and it is a lengthy process to generate each one individually without them receiving 1,000 emails via workflows.

Its unlikely we'd be generate an email that contains multiple PDF's for a couple of reasons:

    - spam filters block emails with lots of attachments

    - mailboxes typically don’t accept emails over a certain size. There a good chance an email with multiple PDF's would exceed the limits.

With regards to splitting multi page PDF's into single pages, there are several tools out there that support this. Adobe Acrobat is one option.  There’s also a free tool we've used before that works well:

    Hi Dave,

Rather then sending out one email with multiple attachments, ideal would be a to create all certificates, but as individual pdfs bundled in a ZIP file. The PDF separation tool is a lovely idea, however we are talking 3000+ certificates. Manually separating them is neither viable nor time effective. Same goes for creating them individually, which is what we are doing at the moment, due to the lack of better alternatives.

    Hi,

Understood. From a reliability standpoint, the concern we’d have with this is that a) emails with zip files are treated with caution by mail boxes and could very likely be rejected. You would also have the problem with size. 3000 certificates at approx. 100kb each would be 300mb, again that size of email would be rejected by email systems. Where we can we try to avoid things that are likely to trip our customers up down the line.

I’ve used a couple of PDF separation tools and they do exactly what you are looking for, they take one PDF file and separate them into single page files packaged in a ZIP file. We’ve then shared that ZIP using dropbox or one drive.

Really appreciate the feedback, we’ll keep this in mind for the future.

    Dave
