Ability to filter workflows based on categories

There are some courses that on appearance don't have anything distinguishable about them other than if they have categories associated. If category was an option within the Rules it would be an easy way to filter courses that need different communications.

    We need to be able to send out emails for subsets of courses within our portfolio of courses some may be grouped by category and some may not so this functionality would be useful but we need to be able to select single or groups of courses that need different communications.

    I agree that categoriy should be available to workflows, but it still wouldn't be sufficient to give us the control over workflows that we need. Access to a tag field associated with a template/course is the way to go.

     Just to expand on what we need:

    • We need to send pre-course activity emails to only some of courses.
    • The courses that do not need these emails are not from just one category.  It maybe for example,  that some of our  Excel courses have pre-course activity and some do not.  Therefore, we cannot put all of the courses without pre-course activity into one category.
    • We need a way to “tag” which courses need/do not need pre-course activities and for this tag to be part of the rule in the workflow.
    • We need to only send a pre-course activity email to delegates that have booked a course that has  pre-course activity
    • We do not want to send a pre-course activity email to delegates if there is no pre-course activity.

     

    For many of our courses the pre-course activity is essential to the way in which the courses are taught so without having a way to send out this information we cannot move to the new system.

    User course date based workflows can have a setting configured against them that limits their creation based on the Course Template ID. This should help you limit emails to specific courses.

    Hi Dave We have looked at this and as we have over 200 courses this would mean that we would need to setup seperate workflows for each one.  This doesn't seem a sensible approach and will be very hard to maintain.
